I'd like to thank and congratulate everyone who was at the game. A Saturday night 10 days before Christmas isn't easy, but that was the largest crowd for a basketball game in many years, and unlike byu's last two visits to the Huntsman the crowd was comprised of mostly Utah fans. The Utah fans were loud and energetic from tip to the final whistle. What a great experience for our players, and the football recruits and incoming basketball players who were also in attendance.
You could tell the game was personal from the start for Jordan Loveridge. Of course it is with how much he deals with byu fans telling him he made a terrible decision on twitter. He set the tone early. He looks much more athletic this year with his new weight and his upside is very high. Really exciting to watch.
byu did a good job keeping Delon Wright under wraps early, but this team is deep enough that others were able to step up and make the plays.
This team plays aggressive defense and gets boards. Those things alone will win some games.
I said before the year that 10-2 was expected in preseason, anything less might be a worry but 11-1 or better shows progress because it means we won a game that last year we weren't going to. I really enjoy watching this team play and the growth is clear to any observer.
I'm really starting to picture a 6th or 7th place finish in the PAC12, which would be PERFECT in my mind for a program building the right way. Finish 7th and bring in the best recruiting class in years is the way to build a program and team, not just patchwork one together like has been done the last decade. Continue the upward trajectory instead of peaking too early and dropping back off.
Things are looking very good for Utah basketball. Go Utes!!
