Great advice

I had IT band syndrome earlier in the year. So, I took 6 weeks off of running, did some strengthening exercises, and changed the type of shoes I wore. But, it was doing the foam roller 3 times a day that was the real salvation. It hurt a ton at the beginning, but I kept at it. Since March, I've had no pain and run several 5 & 10k's, a half marathon, and a Ragnar relay. I still use the roller after most runs as a preventative measure.
