all diets are a con. period. ALL OF THEM. the ONLY diet you need to know is calorie restriction. there have been a huge number of scientific papers published in the last 5 years about diets and they ALL point to the same thing, it doesnt effing matter what diet you want, just reduce your caloric intake. in the last month or so there have been a couple big papers looking at caloric reduction and its affect on cancer and diabetes. it is absolutely ASTOUNDING what people can overcome just by reducing the number of calories you consume every day, one paper showed people can damn near cure diabetes by just cutting calories. the people on the diet got a little bit of exercise (like 3 or 4 times a week, maybe 45 minutes a session) but cut down there calories by about half. the results were that pretty much all of them could stop taking their daily insulin injections, they lost a $#!+load of weight and everyone got their diabetes under control.
another famous "diet study" was the researcher in kansas who did the twinkee diet. he literally ate nothing but twinkees and those pink cocunut things for 6 months. he ate one can of green beens/corn/"healthy" stuff a day at dinner so he wouldnt make a bad impression on his kids, but everything else was those nasty little debbie things. the thing is he only consumed like 1500 calories worth a day. he lost like 10 pounds and drastically reduced bad cholesterol.
i am TELLING YOU, dont buy into those gimmicky diet bull$#!+ programs. cut back your calories, get some exercise and you will lose weight. counting calories is a full proof way of getting healthy.
