Welcome to the dominion political agenda.

The great irony is that Evangelicals were the group that elected James Madison to the Constitutional Convention. They made him promise to include the establishment and free exercise clauses. Now we have folks from that politcal part of the spectrum saying things like Santorum's bite, or Huckabee's comment in the last election about it being easier to change the Constitution than the laws of the living God.

Sometimes I wonder if Mormon conservatives really know who their neighbors are. Really looking forward to having fiscal conservatives and libertarians retake leadership in the grand old party. I don't think the GOP takes the White House again until they do.

Virginia Ute icon NEW: It was just a matter of time. I think anyone that bases their campaign off of social issues this November needs to take a hike.

o NEW: Also the "wall of seperation" that every anti religious person uses is not in the constituion it was in a Letter that Jefferson wrote to the Danbury Baptist and is taken TOTALLY out of context.

Homer_Crimson icon NEW: But what people that want more religious influence in government fail to grasp is that once you break that seperation, you have an established state religion and discrimination against other faiths/ethos etc. sets in immediately. (nm)

o NEW: You could argue that with any politically motivated institution. (nm)

Homer_Crimson icon NEW: Exactly, which is why we need hard limits on political spending and get corporate money out of our election system.

o NEW: Fat chance. All I am arguing is that Religions are allowed full participation in government despite what people might think or hope.
