Honest question for Moose

I feel you can actually provide some valuable conversation here.
What's your take on the high school referee situation?

Why would anybody want to be a referee? Nothing personal but it seems like a really $#!+ty job. Constantly being yelled at by stupid parents and entitled kids. Travelling from one crappy gym to the next.

It's not a job for a family man. It's not a job for the thin skinned. The pay appears to be terrible. Part-time local appears to be bearable but the pay must be awful, they must do it just simply for the love of the sport.

Where do you see the referee community in the future? I looked into it at one time but was quickly turned off by the entire culture and lifestyle. I knew a guy who was a DivI football referee, always gone, had a full-time job as a lawyer outside of it. Finally quit because it just wasn't fun for him anymore. Referees at professional levels are declining in quality and numbers, I can only imagine the trickle down is even worse. Watching HS basketball is painful, but who's going to do it?

I see the reports of failing leagues due to the lack of refs. HS soccer being one just based on the times of games alone. The only answer I see is professional leagues promoting a farm system and getting lower tiered refs paid. Without it they won't have anybody coming up through the pipeline.

I'd honestly like to hear your thoughts, then you can go back to doing whatever the hell you do in Monticello. (Hamilton reference +3 points)

Sandy Ute icon NEW: Did you ever see Moose Stubing referee a game at the Huntsman Center? The man had testicles the size of baseballs.

The Thrill icon NEW: I would love to record the fans at RES during a football game and replay them on here. Most fan behavior nationwide is outright despicable
