Surprised it hasn't caught more headlines, but Trump was sued today as POTUS for violating the Emoluments Clause

A watchdog on ethics filed suit in SDNY today, claiming the Don has violated and will continue to violate the constitution as long as he has ownership of his properties, etc etc.

The group is led by a DC lawyer who worked in Obama's white house to prevent lobbyists from getting spots in the administration, among other things as an Special Counsel on Ethics and Govt Reform. His bio is here. Was then appointed ambassador to Czech Republic, and was the inspiration for Jeff Goldblum's character in The Grand Budapest Hotel, which I have not seen.

The first filing is a 39 page doc you can read online if you are interested.

o NEW: good. He needs to learn that he is not above the law. He should have followed Obama's lead on this issue. I suspect he will reinvent the wheel several times during his term. (nm)

o NEW: i doubt that this group will actually have standing to sue. I can't see the particulaized harm to them. Now, if it was an arm of the federal government that would be different. (nm)
