Sandez is entering her fourth season as a Ute and has had an impressive career at the University. In 2021 Sydney made the Pac-12 Honor Roll and led the team in innings pitched (117.2) and games started (20), setting a career high with 12 wins and 56 strikeouts. She finished 2021 with a record of 12-11 and a 4.40 ERA, with three complete games and one save. Sydney only made one error in 35 fielding situations. She also pitched a complete game shutout for a 1-0 win over BYU on February 12th in the Kajikawa Classic. Sandez was a member of the Mexican Junior National Team and was ranked as the 93rd player in the nation by FloSoftball.com. Sydney is majoring in family, community and human development and comes from a long line of collegiate and professional athletes.
